Morgan Freeman to take part in Q&A at tribute to anti-racism efforts
TORONTO – Actress Shirley Douglas and CBC Radio personality Jian Ghomeshi are among the Canadians celebrating U.S. actor Morgan Freeman.
The Canadian celebs appear in a video promoting an upcoming tribute to the Oscar-winner for his efforts to combat racism.
Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will bestow The Key of Knowledge Award at a gala May 6 in Toronto.
The evening will feature a question-and-answer period with Freeman, moderated by filmmaker Paul Saltzman.
Sibling activists Marc and Craig Kielburger and Piers Handling, director and CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival, also appear in the video.
Tickets are $180. Proceeds will go towards the Institute for Medical Research Israel-Canada and to establishing The Morgan Freeman Scholarship Fund for international students participating in the Public Health and Community Medicine Program at Hebrew University.
