Test show water not yet suitable for drinking at new Regina stadium
REGINA – The city of Regina says tests show the water at Roughriders’ new stadium isn’t suitable for drinking yet.
Mayor Michael Fougere says water samples taken from Mosaic Stadium have been sent for testing and results will come back by Friday.
Fougere says the city has a back-up plan to deal with the issue and it shouldn’t discourage people from coming to Saturday’s game.
Kim Onrait, executive director of city services, says gravel and stones were found in the water pipes when they were flushed.
He says it’s not clear how the debris got in there but water is being restricted until further notice.
Signs will be posted this weekend at all 23 stadium washrooms and over sinks reminding fans not to drink the water.
The city will also have water tankers on location and people are encouraged to bring bottles that can be filled up on site.
Bottled water will be available for sale.
