Karen O’Neill named the new leader of Canadian Paralympic Committee

OTTAWA – Karen O’Neill has been named the new chief executive officer of the Canadian Paralympic Committee.

She replaces Henry Storgaard, who stepped down Jan. 18 after four years in the position.

O’Neill is currently CEO of Field Hockey Canada.

She was chief operating officer for the Rick Hansen Foundation from 2004 to 2009.

O’Neill was also chef de mission for Canada’s Paralympic team in 1996.

Canada’s goal for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, is to finish among the top three countries in gold medals won.
