Semi dodges man on Trans Canada near Chase

CHASE – A distraught man narrowly avoided serious injury last week after jumping in front of a semi on the Trans Canada near Chase.

RCMP say a commercial transport truck was traveling on the Trans Canada Highway at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, when a man jumped in front of it just over three kilometres east of the intersection with Highway 97.

The driver was able to dodge the man, but the truck went into a ditch, according to an RCMP release.

Officers, a police dog and the RCMP helicopter searched for the man who was found a short time later near the South Thompson River. He was taken to a hospital for medical assistance.

The driver of the truck was uninjured, while the truck had no notable damage, police say.
