Vernon Fire Department rescues little girl stuck in tree

VERNON – Vernon firefighters came to the rescue of a young girl out on a limb yesterday afternoon.

Vernon Fire and Rescue Services was called to 28 Avenue just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 28.

Capt. Rob Cucheran, with Vernon Fire and Rescue Services, says a six-year-climbed up a tree and couldn’t get back down. At wit’s end, her guardian called the Fire Department.

“That’s what we’re here for,” Cucheran says.

Firefighters used a ladder to help the girl safely back down to solid ground. She was fine, and learned a classic tree-climbing lesson: it's easier going up than coming back down.
