Empire Theatres expands reserved seating to eastern Ontario movie house
TORONTO – No need to drape that jacket over the seat — Empire Theatres is introducing reserved seating to eastern Ontario moviegoers.
The Nova Scotia-based chain says its Kingston, Ont., location will start offering reserved seats in its auditoriums Wednesday.
Empire says that will make it the first mainstream theatre in Ontario to convert to an all-reserved seating system.
Empire’s theatre in Saint John, N.B., began offering the service in June 2012. The company owns and operates 50 theatres across Canada.
Empire says reserved seating makes “the moviegoing experience easier and more relaxed” by guaranteeing the best seat in the house. The service will be offered at no additional charge.
Reserved seating is standard in many parts of the world, including Europe, Asia and Australia.
