Sweden’s Princess Sofia gives birth to baby boy

STOCKHOLM – Sweden’s Princess Sofia has given birth to a baby boy.

He is the first child of Prince Carl Philip and Sofia, who got married last year.

Marshal of the Realm Svante Lindqvist announced the birth in a brief statement Tuesday that didn’t reveal the sex of the child.

“Both mother and child are in good health,” Lindqvist said.

Carl Philip later told reporters at Danderyd’s hospital outside Stockholm that the child was “a little guy.”

The boy is fifth in the line of succession.
