Lake Country woman taken to hospital after crashing car into West Kelowna backyard

WEST KELOWNA – A Lake Country woman is recovering after her car plowed through a backyard fence in the Glenrosa area last night.

Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says in a news release that West Kelowna police responded to a single vehicle collision on Glenrosa Road near McGinnis Road around 8:30 p.m. March 30.

Officers found injuries to the 26-year-old driver and damage to the backyard of a Liard Court property.

Police determined the woman's grey Dodge Caliber had been heading east on Glenrosa Road when the driver lost control in a corner, skidded across the road and careened through the backyard fence.

Police say there was significant damage to the Dodge's under carriage. The driver was taking to hospital and treated for what is believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

"Thankfully no pedestrians were in the immediate area at the time and no persons related to the residence were harmed," O'Donaghey says. "Police would like to remind drivers to slow down for corners and curves and always abide the posted speed limits and suggested speed limits."

The driver has not been charged with an offence.
