SURREY, B.C. – Police have identified a 22-year-old man who was shot and killed in Surrey, B.C.
Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigations Team says evidence suggests Karanpartap Waraich’s death was targeted.
The attack happened Monday night as the victim was in a vehicle in a McDonald’s restaurant parking lot.
Police say they were called to reports of several gunshots and found the victim’s vehicle crashed into a large sign.
Waraich was suffering from critical bullet wounds and died at the scene, despite the efforts of first responders.
Officers remained at the scene through the night and into Tuesday, with police canvassing the neighbourhood and processing evidence.
Pound says it was a “brazen shooting” and there are many more investigative avenues officers want to follow.
