CALGARY – Co-workers of a Calgary woman accused of killing two of her newborns says she was noticeably pregnant on at least three occasions.
Meredith Borowiec (BOHR’-uh-WIK’) is charged with second-degree murder in the 2008 and 2009 deaths of the babies, which were placed in garbage bags and dumped in a trash bin.
Brittany Black told court she came forward to police after a third child was rescued from a garbage container in October 2010.
She said she worked with Borowiec in 2009 and the woman appeared to be full term.
Another co-worker said Borowiec denied she was pregnant and her size was the result of cysts in her uterus.
Black said Borowiec’s stomach had flattened when she saw her a few days later.
