WINNIPEG – Mikhail Berdin tallied 22 saves and the Manitoba Moose blanked the Grand Rapid Griffins 1-0 in American Hockey League action on Friday.
Moose centre Cole Maier scored the game’s lone goal unassisted 14:31 into the second period.
It was a busy night in net for Calvin Pickard, who had 37 saves for the Griffins (1-2-0).
Cole Perfetti led Manitoba (2-2-0) in shots with six.
The visitors struggled mightily on the power play, going 0 for 6. The Moose were 0 for 3 with the man advantage.
The two sides will meet for a rematch in Winnipeg on Saturday.
