Canada’s Filion finishes fourth in women’s 10-metre at Diving World Series event

KAZAN, Russia – Canada’s Roseline Filion settled for a fourth-place finish in the women’s 10-metre final at the Diving World Series on Saturday.

China’s Qian Ren had 367.35 points to win gold at Kazan Aquatics Place. Britain’s Tonia Couch was second with 365.90 and China’s Yajie Si took the bronze with 353.70.

Filion, from Laval, Que., had 343.75 points. Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal did not qualify for the final.

Montreal’s Philippe Gagne was sixth in the men’s three-metre final. China’s Yuan Cao won gold, Russia’s Ilia Zakharov took the silver and China’s Chao He claimed the bronze.

China’s Xiaohu Tai and Yani Chang won the mixed 10-metre synchro competition. They were followed by Australia’s Melissa Wu and Domonic Bedggood and Russia’s Yulia Timoshinina and Nikita Shleikher.

Benfeito and Vincent Riendeau of Pointe-Claire, Que., were fourth.

The competition continues Sunday.
