UPDATE: Shuswap road open to single lane traffic after landslide

SHUSWAP – Two homes are damaged and several residents were evacuated following a landslide on Friday in the Shuswap.

Properties in the 4400 block of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road near Tappen were evacuated immediately on Friday, April 7 and the evacuation order is still in effect today, April 10.

Crews are still on scene monitoring and assessing the landslide site and advise members of the public to keep away from the area, according to the Shuswap Emergency Program.

Traffic is restricted to single lane alternating and drivers should expect minor delays.

Residents in need of assistance should call 250-832-2424 for emergency support services.
