Despite cloudy week in the Okanagan, some sunshine for Easter long weekend

KELOWNA – Despite today’s rain, the long weekend is looking warm and inviting.

Environment Canada is forecasting a grey, damp day today, April 13, with highs up to 12 Celsius in the Okanagan and periods of rain; up to 10 cm may fall in the South Okanagan. This afternoon some of the cloud cover will clear up, though, and we may see some sun before it sets. Tonight we can expect a cool night, with lows around 2 C and a chance of showers.

Tomorrow, Good Friday, will be a more pleasant day with highs of 12 C and a mix of sun and cloud. Overnight it’ll be more of the same, periods of cloud and lows of 2 C.

Saturday is going to be similar, with a mix of sun and cloud, but warmer, reaching a high of 13 C. Skies will clear up that evening though, and it’ll drop below freezing to -1 C.

Easter Sunday will be the day to get outside, with a high of 15 C and sunny day forecast. Overnight there’ll be a significant drop though, as temperatures fall to 0 C.

Next week is looking warmer, with daytime highs around 15 C and overnight lows roughly 7 C.

Even though it’s forecast to be warmer than it has been, the weekend is likely going to be cooler than normal this time of year. Seasonal normal temperatures for the Okanagan at this time of year range between 17 C and 3 C.
