VERNON – The recent rainfall has saturated the playfields in Vernon forcing the City to close some of them.
The rain has made the playing surfaces “exceptionally soft,” according to a City of Vernon media release.
To avoid long-term damage, the City has closed the Marshall Field soccer fields and the Kin Race Track ball diamonds until Wednesday, April 19.
All the other playfields in Vernon have been closed as well, but they will reopen on Saturday, April 15.
The City says closing the fields is necessary to avoid expensive repairs and even longer closures.
