Demi Lovato first performer announced for MuchMusic Video Awards in June

TORONTO – Pop star Demi Lovato will take to the stage at next month’s MuchMusic Video Awards.

The singer-actress, who’s also a judge on the TV talent series “The X-Factor,” is the first performer announced for the June 16 show in Toronto.

She’s also a nominee in the fan-driven category of Your Fave International Artist/Group of the Year, against One Direction, PSY and Taylor Swift.

Lovato, who’s set to release her fourth album next week, has never appeared at the street-level bash.

Nominees in the categories of Your Fave Video of the Year and Your Fave Artist/Group of the Year have also been announced.

In the Fave Video category is Classified, Drake, Hedley and Marianas Trench.

Fave Artist/Group of the Year nominees include Carly Rae Jepsen, Deadmau5, Drake and Justin Bieber.

Each category also has a special Wildcard slot for a fifth and final nominee, to be determined by fan votes.

Votes can be cast at mmva.muchmusic.com or via mobile device.

Wildcard voting closes May 20 at 12 midnight ET.

The winning Wildcard nominees, along with the full lineup of the 2013 MMVAs nominees, will be announced on Much’s “New.Music.Live.” in the coming weeks.

The MMVAs will air live at 9 p.m. ET and be simulcast in the U.S. on Fuse.

MusiquePlus will air the show on July 1 at 5:30 p.m. ET.
