If you see this actor around the North Okanagan, be sure to call him ‘sir’

VERNON – The stars are aligning for Hollywood’s return to the North Okanagan.

Okanagan film commissioner Jon Summerland says it’s looking like the Hollywood movie Go With Me, based on a best-selling book, will be filmed in the region. Oscar winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins has already signed on to star in the thriller.

“We’ve scouted locations, and they like what they’ve seen so far,” Summerland says.

The project involves Enderby grad Rick Dugdale of the production company Enderby Entertainment and Swedish director Daniel Alfredson, known for The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.

The entirety of the movie would be filmed in the North and South Okanagan, primarily in Lumby and in Enderby—where scenes of Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney, was shot.

“They’ll shoot in the town, in the diner, you’ll see them everywhere,” Summerland says. “They’re not going to be as secretive as Tomorrowland, they won’t be so hidden.”

It’s the biggest production ever to be shot in Lumby, and for that matter Kelowna or even Vancouver, Summerland says.

“When you have the calibre of Sir Anthony Hopkins, that’s a pretty massive film,” Summerland says.

There are four leads in all, and Summerland expects the rest will be of the same level as Hopkins. If all goes well, filming will launch Nov. 10. One of the more difficult sites the production still needs to find is an old logging mill.

Dugdale was born and raised in Enderby, where he graduated from A.L. Fortune Secondary. He now lives in L.A. and has worked on a number of films.

“Rick has brought a movie home that suits the area,” Summerland says. “He’s found the best place for this picture.”

Summerland says as many locals will be hired as possible, and money will be spent in restaurants and hotels in the region.
