B.C.’s police watchdog investigates fatal motorcycle crash near Penticton

VANCOUVER – The province’s police watchdog is investigating the scene of a fatal crash on Saturday between Okanagan Falls and Penticton.

An official with the Independent Investigations Office says a team is investigating the death of a man and woman who’s motorcycle crashed just after 9 p.m.

Owen Court says an RCMP officer on patrol reportedly saw the couple travelling at high speeds in a 60-kilometre zone.

He says the Mountie activated his emergency overhead light and attempted to catch the speeding bike but lost sight of the couple.

Court says the officer found the crashed motorcycle about a kilometre later, and that the man and woman had died from their injuries.

The Independent Investigations Office are brought in to look incidents where death or serious injury involve police.
