Liberals say NDP document suggests party has other agenda if it wins election
VANCOUVER – B.C. Liberal Finance Minister Mike de Jong says a leaked NDP document lifts a veil of secrecy on New Democrats’ plans if the party wins tomorrow’s election.
The policy document says the NDP would eliminate independently owned beer and wine stores, cut funding to private schools and nationalize independent power projects.
De Jong says the NDP executive, MLAs and a labour leader were at the meeting two and a half years ago.
But the New Democrats have already shot down the claims, saying the document was created by individual party members and the contents are not part of its current platform.
De Jong says British Columbians should be wary of the party’s philosophical leanings before they head to the polls.
He says the gap between B.C.’s two main parties has tightened significantly but the Liberals remain cautiously optimistic of a victory.
