Explosions, fire reported at gas distributor in West Virginia; no word on casualties, damage

POCA, W.Va. – Emergency officials say crews are responding to reports of explosions and a fire at an industrial site in West Virginia.

Nitro firefighter Jeff Dorsey says crews were dispatched Monday afternoon to Airgas in Poca just outside Charleston. The company is a distributor of specialty gases used in industry and elsewhere.

Dorsey did not know if there were any injuries.

A telephone call to the company resulted in a busy signal. A woman who answered the phone at the company’s regional headquarters said officials were in a meeting and could not immediately comment.
