RV Show, Farmers Market provide a couple of spring things to do this weekend

PENTICTON – The B.C. Interior RV Show happens this weekend at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

The largest RV show in the B.C. interior covers nine acres of South Okanagan Events Centre property, 80,000 square feet of it indoors. The show runs from noon until 9 p.m. today, April 21. Saturday and Sunday’s start times are 10 a.m., running until 7 p.m. Adults are $5, kids get in free with an adult. Bring a non-perishable food item. For more info, see the B.C. The Penticton Farmers Market begins its 27th season on Saturday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Main Street.

Market Manager Erin Trainer says the cooler weather so far this year has delayed many local crops but several vendors who operate greenhouses will be on hand with produce and bedding plants. There will also be organic eggs, locally-roasted coffee, fresh baking, handmade crafts and Okanagan wines available. Up to 140 vendors will take part in this year's market, which has been reconfigured with the Main Street revitalization project that took place last fall.

Many Hats Theatre Company present “Self Help by Dummiez” at the Cannery Stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are $19 to $22. For more information, see the Many Hats Theatre website.

The Penticton Pistoleras roller derby team take on the Kootenay Coalition at the Penticton Curling Club, Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. For more information, call 250-492-5647.

The Oasis United Church celebrates Earth Day with an artisan fair on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find fabric art, photography, baking, artwork, preserves, bird houses, plants and local products at the church, located at 2964 Skaha Lake Road. Admission is free.

The Patrick Alexandre Trio performs at The Dream Cafe Friday, April 21, followed by The Guitar Twins Saturday, April 22. Both shows start at 8 p.m. For more information, see The Dream Cafe website.

Three Wishes Clothing Boutique hosts a fashion show in the lobby of Penticton Lakeside Resort on Sunday, April 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission by donation to the South Okanagan Breast Cancer Survivorship Dragonboat Team. For reservations email Jamie@hoodedmerganser.ca

The Penticton and District Community Arts Council and Craft Corner Kitchen present Oliver Swain and the Big Machine on Sunday, April 23 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and $20 at the door.

Wendy Sings! will be at the Cannery Brewing Co. on Sunday evening, April 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is no cover charge for this opportunity to listen to local musicians.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
