Local musician and Festivals Kelowna coordinator to run for council
KELOWNA – A well-known local musician and programmer of marquee events like Parks Alive, Arts Alive and the Canada Day Festival will run for city council this November.
Ryan Donn, 37, will make the official announcement Friday, but has confirmed he plans to file his nomination papers before the October 10 deadline.
Best known for his music videos and work with Festivals Kelowna, Donn was previously an education assistant for School District 23 from 2006 to 2011.
Donn was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland and moved to Kelowna with his parents and three siblings in 1991. He graduated from Rutland Senior Secondary in 1995 and has a diploma in human service work from Okanagan College. In 2010 he received the Okanagan College alumni award for his work in the community.
The press conference will take place at the Bike Shop Café Friday at 10:30.
