KELOWNA – Emergency crews were ready when a Bombardier Dash 8 with potential landing gear problems approached the runway at YLW at 10:52 a.m. today.
The pilot of the commercial flight from Calgary told air traffic control the green light that indicates wheels are fully locked wasn't illuminating, according to a press release from Kelowna International Airport. The airport's Aircraft Rescue Firefighters, Kelowna Fire Department, B.C. Ambulance and RCMP were on scene to support the emergency standby.
The Air Canada Express flight landed safely at 10:58 a.m. without incident and was taxied to the gate.
A mechanical review of the plane will be conducted before the aircraft can continue to another destination.
There was no disruption of scheduled service at YLW.
