Day of Mourning ceremonies planned for Kelowna, Kamloops and Vernon

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – Canadians who lost their lives in work-related accidents will be honoured across the Interior tomorrow, April 28, on the National Day of Mourning.

Every year WorkSafe B.C., the B.C. Federation of Labour and the Business Council of British Columbia co-host public ceremonies in cities across Canada to remember workers killed on the job or who lost their lives due to occupational diseases.

In Kamloops, the Kamloops and District Labour Council will host a ceremony at 6 p.m. tomorrow at St. Andrews on the Square.

The North Okanagan Labour Council has organized a ceremony that starts at noon in Kelowna’s Ben Lee Park.

The City of Salmon Arm, Columbia Shuswap Regional District and CUPE 1908 have one planned for Marine Park starting at 10:45 a.m. and another will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Vernon City Hall.
