Parking issues at Campbell Mountain to be resolved with temporary lot

PENTICTON – Campbell Mountain is becoming a popular recreational area for Penticton residents.

The area is becoming so well used, parking is creating a concern due to the limited amount of road side parking available.

City communications officer Mark Parker says current parking arrangements have resulted in emergency access to the mountain being blocked. Reservoir Road is also becoming congested with parked cars, to the point vehicles are being parked on private property, inconveniencing local residents.

To help alleviate the issue, the Public Works Department will install a temporary gravel parking lot near the junction of Greyback Mountain Road, Reservoir Road and Spiller Road.

The lot should be ready for use by the second week of May.

Parker says the parking lot’s future will be decided when a management plan for the area is developed.
