Running back Jon Cornish says getting Stamps back to Grey Cup his No. 1 goal

CALGARY – Star Canadian running back Jon Cornish wants to work on his pass routes this season but his coach will be smiling if he just continues doing what he did last year.

Cornish helped get the Calgary Stampeders to the Grey Cup, although both he and the team stumbled in the championship game. The Stampeders dropped a 35-22 decision to the Argonauts in Toronto.

Speaking today on a conference call, Cornish says he wants to continue developing after a record-breaking 2012 season that saw him set a new league mark for rushing yards by a Canadian.

Cornish says he thinks about ways to improve his game all the time, but his only personal goal right now is getting back to the Grey Cup in 2013.

Coach John Hufnagel says he wants to see Cornish be a factor in each and every game.

He adds that he particularly respects the way Cornish bounced back and tried even harder if he had an off game, like his minus-one-yard effort in week five last season.
