Canadian trucker arrested in Texas for fatal Montana crash

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – A Canadian man is facing charges alleging he fled the scene of a fatal Montana crash involving a semitrailer and a minivan.

The Great Falls Tribune reported (http://gftrib.com/2q2Wr10) Monday that Jaroglav Kleberc has been arrested in Texas and charged with negligent homicide and other crimes for the April 15 crash.

Court documents say Kleberc had been driving a semitrailer loaded with lumber on Interstate 15 when he illegally turned into an emergency crossing lane.

The semitrailer had been blocking part of the northbound lanes when 72-year-old Marvin Knutson struck the semi’s loaded trailer with his minivan while trying to avoid the obstruction.

Knutson died at the crash site, just south of the Great Falls International Airport.

Prosecutors say Kleberc has waived any objections to extradition from Texas back to Montana.
