
Canada’s Caldwell wins bronze in 200-metre backstroke at Rio Games
RIO DE JANEIRO – Hilary Caldwell has added to Canada’s medal haul in the pool at the Rio Olympics, taking the bronze medal in the women’s 200-metre backstroke.
Caldwell finished in a time of two minutes 7.89 seconds to give Canada its sixth swimming medal of the Games.
Madeline Dirado of the United States won gold in 2:05.99, upsetting Hungarian star swimmer Katinka Hosszu who settled for silver in 2:06.05.
Canada’s women athletes have accounted for all 10 of Canada’s medals so far in Rio.
