Sharks defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic briefly exits Game 6 of Stanley Cup final
SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Sharks defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic briefly left Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final on Sunday night, although it’s unclear why.
Vlasic left for the Sharks dressing room five minutes into the second period, returned to play one shift and then left once more before returning to the bench with about three minutes left in the frame. The 29-year-old appeared to be labouring somewhat, though it’s uncertain what, if any, injury he suffered.
Vlasic is one half of the Sharks top defensive pair, alongside Justin Braun. They’ve been tasked with defending Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins’ top line in the Stanley Cup final. Crosby set up Pittsburgh’s second goal of Game 6 shortly after Vlasic left the game.
The 29-year-old Vlasic played almost 28 minutes in a Game 5 win and has been fairly effective in slowing Crosby.
