TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:
Toronto Stock Exchange (12,696.37 up 29.15 points):
Allana Potash Corp. (TSX:AAA). Potash explorer. Up eight cents, or 14.29 per cent, at 64 cents on 2.56 million shares.
New Gold Inc. (TSX:NGD). Miner. Up seven cents, or 1.02 per cent, at $6.93 on 2.11 million shares. The gold sector rose 0.67 per cent to 189.92.
Paramount Resources Ltd. (TSX:POU). Oil and gas. Up 30 cents, or 0.80 per cent, at $37.69on 2.07 million shares.
Open Text Corp. (TSX:OTC). Software products. Up $1.32, or 1.87 per cent, at $71.79 on 1.99 million shares.
San Gold Corp. (TSX:SGR). Miner. Up three cents, or 22.22 per cent, at 16.5 cents on 1.85 million shares.
Toronto Venture Exchange (948.45 up 0.13 of a point):
Goldstream Minerals Inc. (TSXV:GSX). Mine explorer. Up a penny, or 50 per cent, at three cents on 4.91 million shares.
Gold Bullion Development Corp. (TSXV:GBB). Mineral exploration. Down half a cent, or 14.29 per cent, at three cents on 2.52 million shares.
Companies reporting major news:
Valeant Pharmaceuticals Inc. (TSX:VRX). Drug maker. Up $8.83, or 10.15 per cent, at $95.85 on 1.09 million shares. The company announced its is buying eye-care company Bausch and Lomb Holdings for US$8.7-billion in cash.
Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX:WIN). Patent licensing. Up 39 cents, or 9.15 per cent, at $4.65 on 857,776 shares. Wi-LAN signed an agreement to settle a patent litigation dispute with computer maker Dell. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
