B.C. man enters surprise guilty plea in Carly Rae Jepsen harassment case

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – A 25-year-old man accused of harassing Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen has pleaded guilty to charges of mischief and possession of stolen property.

Christopher David Long was scheduled to make a brief court appearance in Abbotsford, B.C., for an arraignment hearing, but instead pleaded guilty to charges of mischief and possession of stolen property.

Police announced in July 2012 that they were investigating a complaint by Jepsen of unauthorized use of a computer and theft of telecommunications.

Vancouver police then announced in December that Long was facing five charges, including identity fraud, possession of stolen property, fraudulently obtaining telecommunications services, and unauthorized use of a computer.

Jepsen is currently performing in Chicago and was unavailable for comment, but her manager says she may release a statement closer to Long’s sentencing in September.

Jepsen, of Mission, B.C., took home three trophies at the 42nd Juno Awards in April for her smash hit “Call Me Maybe.” (CKNW)
