Newcap Radio acquires three Kamloops radio stations

KAMLOOPS – Things are set to change for the Kamloops radio scene after a Nova Scotia company agreed to acquire NL Broadcasting.

In a news release, Nova Scotia-based Newcap Radio says it has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the shares of NL Broadcasting, which broadcasts on CHNL, Country 103 and The River. The agreement is subject to approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.

President and CEO of Newcap, Rob Steele, says in the release he's looking forward to the deal.

"We are excited about the opportunity to enter the Kamloops market, where these stations already have a strong presence in the community," Steele said. "This acquisition continues to expand our presence in British Columbia and fits well with our current operations in Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley."

Newcap has 95 licences across the country.
