As rookie camp starts, Bombers try to determine quarterback pecking order
WINNIPEG – Coach Tim Burke says the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be spending a lot of time at training camp this season deciding on the pecking order among their three backup quarterbacks.
Justin Goltz is going in as No. 2 to starter Buck Pierce but Burke says all three backups will get a good chance to prove themselves.
The Bombers cut Alex Brink and Joey Elliott in the off-season and signed Max Hall and Chase Clement, who have no CFL experience.
The Bombers also want to improve their secondary and will give some new defensive backs a try as rookie camp opens Wednesday.
Burke says if the current crop want to keep their jobs, they’ll have to play better than they did last season.
One of the first things he will instill in newcomers is respect for the CFL game, because without it he says they won’t be around long.
