Wine Authority president to run for council

KELOWNA – Okanagan College’s chair of business administration and director of the B.C. Wine Authority Laura Thurnheer announced Friday she will run for council.

Thurnheer grew up in Kelowna and is a former president of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, current director and secretary of the B.C. Wine Authority and director of the Central and South Okanagan Similkameen United Way.

She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing and a Master’s of Business Administration in strategic management. In 2012 she was a finalist for Kelowna Civic Awards Woman of the Year.

Thurnheer and her husband Thomas have two grown children.

She will unveil her campaign platform Oct. 3.
