Idling truck stolen from Kelowna home

KELOWNA – An idling truck was stolen from the owner’s driveway this morning after the suspect jumped in and drove away.

Police were called just after 7 a.m. today, May 12 to the 800 block of Irma Road after the Ford F-150, which had been idling in the owner’s driveway, was driven away by a male suspect.

Police flooded the area with patrols and saw the truck, but did not pursue due to public safety, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release.

“Officers spotted the vehicle travelling at high rates of speed east bound on Highway 33 towards Big White,” O’Donaghey says in the release. “The vehicle was observed being driven in such a careless and dangerous manner, that officers ultimately decided not to pursue the vehicle due to the perceived risk to public safety.”

Police are now turning to the public in hopes of locating the truck again.

It’s a black Ford F-150 pickup truck with hot pink stickers on the rear window. Police did not provide a licences plate number.
