HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities say the shooter and one of the victims in an apparent double murder-suicide at a western Michigan home had a child together.
The shooting during an apparent domestic dispute was reported Sunday evening in Ottawa County’s Holland Township. The sheriff’s department says several people fled from the home, but three were still inside the house about 20 miles west of Grand Rapids.
Police tried to contact them without success for about two hours and a tactical team later found the bodies of a woman and two men.
Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Bennett said Monday that 43-year-old Phouthone Kaiyarath was the suspected shooter. Authorities believe Kaiyarath shot his child’s mother, 34-year-old Latthida Kommana, and 51-year-old Thomas Rattanavong before shooting himself.
