Winery license application in Penticton prompts neighbourhood protest
PENTICTON – A Penticton winery making its second application for a lounge permit continues to have difficulty getting approval from neighbouring residents.
Perseus Winery, located at 134 Lower Bench Rd., originally applied for a lounge license in 2013, but were turned down by city council after hearing from the concerns of neighbouring residents.
The winery recently reapplied for a lounge license, and the matter is expected to come back to council on May 23.
A local neighbourhood group plans to hold a protest on Lower Bench Road in front of Perseus Winery tonight, May 15.
Resident Trevor Tovell calls the application the “wrong thing in the wrong place," adding little has changed in the winery’s application from its original submission.
Residents are also planning to form an action group with plans to attend the May 23 council meeting.
