Drouin skips fitness testing at NHL Combine, Jones get medical exemption
TORONTO – Halifax Mooseheads winger Jonathan Drouin opted to skip the fitness portion of the NHL Combine, citing his prolonged season.
Drouin, ranked third among North American skaters by the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau, did take part in the medical testing at the Toronto airport convention centre Friday morning.
He said he will work out at a later date for individual clubs as needed.
Portland Winterhawks defenceman Seth Jones, the top-ranked North American skater, was also expected to skip the fitness portion. He has a medical exemption, however.
Some 100 prospects are at the Combine.
