More snow coming to Interior mountain passes

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – It appears winter won’t let up on the Interior mountain passes as the latest heads up from Environment Canada proves.

Flurries at times heavy will continue today, May 16, over passes on the Okanagan Connector, the Coquihalla and the Southern Trans-Provincial highways as a cold low moves into Washington State, according to the special weather statement.

Yesterday, Environment Canada issued a similiar weather statement alerting drivers to snowfall on the mountain passes overnight. 

The amounts of snow will vary but accumulations of over five centimetres are possible on Highway 3 westbound through the Allison Pass between Princeton and Hope, eastbound from the Kootenay Pass to the Paulson Summit, on the Pennask Summit along Highway 97C and on the upper elevations of the Coquihalla from Kamloops through Merritt to Hope.
