Now and then: Photos show how different things are in the North Okanagan this year
VERNON – It’s not your average May in the North Okanagan.
If you head down to Kal Beach on Kalamalka Lake in Coldstream, you’ll see that the Rotary Pier is partially underwater.
Contrast that with these pictures from May of 2015, when beach-goers were out in full force, and the water level was well below the pier.
Turn now to Silver Star Mountain near Vernon. This year, a substantial amount of snow blankets the slopes. These photos from James Niven show just how much difference a year can make.
Both photos were taken on May 7. The first is from 2016, the second from this year.
