ASHCROFT– The Trans Canada Highway was temporarily closed this morning after a crash between a semi truck and pickup truck near Spences Bridge.
RCMP say at about 8:45 a.m. today, May 24, emergency crews were called to the collision about six kilometers north of Spences Bridge. A northbound semi truck and trailer was engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.
The semi crossed over the centre line and the driver of a southbound pickup avoided hitting the semi head-on but was sideswiped, according to an RCMP media release. The semi then hit a rock face near the highway and caught fire.
The 39-year-old man driving the semi sustained non life-threatening injuries. Two occupants in the Chevrolet pick up truck, both in their 80s, were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
