ARMSTRONG – Attendance was down a little, but an impressive number of visitors still passed through the gates of the Interior Provincial Exhibition.
Bryan Burns, IPE general manager, says 149,782 people came over the five days, down just a little from the 150,170 from last year, he suspects due to the weather.
The biggest day for the fair was Saturday, with 49,182 people.
RCMP report that some people had a little too much fun, and had to spend time in the drunk tank. There were also a few thefts, but for the most part, nothing major.
Burns says this year's IPE was a huge success, though he's already planning for next year.
"The planning has already started to see how we can make it even better," he says.
There will be a debriefing for the IPE board in the coming weeks, during which they will discuss what worked, and what could work better. Throughout the year, Burns will visit other fairs and get ideas for the Armstrong event.
