Police investigate report of indecent exposure on Okanagan Rail Trail

VERNON – Police are investigating an alleged incident of indecent exposure on the Okanagan Rail Trail earlier this week.

Police were notified Wednesday, May 24 about the incident, which took place the day before, on May 23, at around 1 p.m., RCMP spokesperson Dan Moskaluk says in a release from May 25. The news release followed an earlier inquiry from iNFOnews.ca regarding the alleged incident.

“The female complainant stated that an unknown male was in a wooded area and was observed masturbating. The male continued to masturbate and began walking toward the complainant and acknowledge her verbally,” Moskaluk says.

The woman ignored the man and as she looked over to get her dog out of the water, the man saw the dog and put his genitals back in his shorts and departed the area, Moskaluk says.

The incident happened on a portion of the rail trail off of Kick Willie Loop, around the one kilometre mark known as the first beach area.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 45 to 50 years old, 5'10" tall, and wearing dark shorts.

“The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP ask the general public to report any other similar incidents of this nature and for those who use the Rail Trail in this area to be aware of the reported incident,” Moskaluk says.
