State Patrol: 4 killed in head-on crash in southeast Georgia

KINGSLAND, Ga. – A head-on crash in southeast Georgia killed four people, including a 3-year-old girl, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

News outlets report the crash shut down State Road 40 for several hours Tuesday afternoon outside Kingsland, near the Georgia-Florida state line.

A Nissan Altima travelling westbound crossed a concrete divider and entered the eastbound lanes, crashing head-on into a Ford F-250 pickup truck, the State Patrol said. The woman driving the Nissan was killed along with three passengers, including the young girl.

Troopers said a 9-year-old boy in the Nissan’s back seat was taken to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately known. The driver of the Ford truck had minor injuries.

The State Patrol said witnesses told troopers the Nissan was travelling at excessive speed before it veered into oncoming traffic.
