Woman suffers stab wounds in Kelowna domestic assault

KELOWNA – A woman was stabbed several times in a domestic assault in Kelowna early this morning.

RCMP say at about 1:35 a.m., May 30, officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on June Springs Road in Kelowna.

Police found a man on the front porch of the residence suffering from apparent self-inflicted wounds, according to an RCMP media release. The wounds were not life-threatening.

“Officers then located a female victim in the backyard area of the property, suffering from multiple stab wounds,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release. “The woman’s injuries, although serious in nature, were also believed to be non life-threatening.”

Both the man and woman were taken to hospital by amublance in stable condition, O'Donaghey says. The woman has since been released from hospital.

Police are securing a warrant to search the June Springs Road property as they continue to investigate the incident.

The 59-year-old man involved remains in custody, but has yet to be charged.
