Marg Spina officially steps down from Kamloops City Council

KAMLOOPS – Today Kamloops City staff announced councillor Marg Spina's official resignation date.

Spina sent in a formal letter of resignation with June 30, 2017 as her last day.

Spina has been on extended medical leave since December 2016 battling breast cancer she called "incurable" at a May 16 council meeting.

Though details aren't yet clear, Spina's resignation will trigger a byelection to fill her council seat. City staff say details about the byelection will not be released until the end of June.
