Bernard Avenue revitalization to see additional phase

The City of Kelowna is revising the schedule for Phase 3 of the Bernard Avenue Revitalization due to the current labour dispute at FortisBC.

The third phase of the $14-million revitalization project on Kelowna’s “Main Street” began on Sept. 3 as scheduled, however only the area from St. Paul to Ellis streets including the Ellis intersection, is not affected by electrical utility works and will be completed this fall.

“It’s a regrettable situation, but to mitigate impact to businesses only the area where we know the work can be completed will be started,” said Bill Berry, Director of Design & Construction Services.

Completion of Phase 3a is scheduled for the end of November with the remaining section, from Pandosy to Ellis streets, to begin in early spring with Bernard Avenue completed in its entirety by June 2014.
