Holland Taylor’s 1-woman show ‘Ann,’ about Ann Richards, closing on Broadway

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Actress Holland Taylor’s one-woman portrait of Ann Richards, the former Texas governor with the cotton candy hair and down-home humour, will be moving along.

Producers said Wednesday “Ann” will close after the June 30 show following 19 previews and 132 regular performances at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater.

The silver-tongued Richards was a longtime champion of women and minorities in government. She died in 2006 at age 73.

Taylor, perhaps best known for playing the feisty grandmother on the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men,” has previously taken her play to various theatres in Texas, as well as Chicago and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

She earned a Tony nomination for best leading actress in a play.
