The Latest: Fairbanks home explosion injures 5

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Latest on a Fairbanks home explosion (all times local):

2 p.m.

Five people injured in a Fairbanks home explosion have been transported to a hospital in Seattle for treatment.

Alaska State Troopers say the five include four Alaskans and one resident of Pennsylvania.

Troopers suspect a propane leak was the cause of the explosion Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses just after 3:30 p.m. called to report the blast at home on Rosie Creek Road west of the city. The explosion did not cause a fire.

Troopers say the injured are 26-year-old Morganne Armstrong, 69-year-old Ellen Weiser and 64-year-old David Weissman of Fairbanks, and 27-year-old Colin Campbell of Tanana (TAN-ah-nah).

The injured Pennsylvania woman is 21-year-old Meadow Batejan. Her hometown was not immediately available.

A weekend explosion at a Fairbanks home left five people injured.

Alaska State Troopers just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday received a call of the explosion at a home on Rosie Creek Road west of the city.

No fire broke out afterward.

Emergency medical responders moved five people to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

Two were seriously injured.

Troopers say a propane leak appears to be the cause of the explosion.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
