Fire breaks out on Greek ferry boat with 250 people on board in eastern Aegean Sea

ATHENS, Greece – Greek authorities say a fire has broken out on a ferry boat carrying about 250 people in the eastern Aegean Sea.

No injuries have been immediately reported, and it is not yet clear how extensive the fire is.

A Merchant Marine Ministry statement says the blaze started Friday as the “Nissos Mykonos” was sailing between the islands of Ikaria and Samos.

The vessel is continuing its course toward Samos, while coast guard vessels are heading for the area.
